MY STORY

Waymon B. McLeskey II

My name is Waymon B. McLeskey II and I was born in Columbus, OH and have lived there all my life. I went to Yale University where I obtained a B.A. in History in 1976 and to Brown University graduate school where I obtained  an A.M. in History in 1977. I entered law school at Ohio Northern University in 1978 and finished in 1981 with a J.D. degree. During my law school years, I spent one summer in England at Cambridge University through the University of Richmond (VA )Law School. I am the third generation of attorneys in my family.

I began practicing in 1981 in a general practice firm. In 1984 I went to Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur and remained there for 13 years concentrating in consumer credit collection, including bankruptcy and insurance defense. I left in 1997 and have remained largely a solo practitioner since that time.  I am licensed in Kentucky (2004) and West Virginia (2006) The current firm is Waymon B. McLeskey II dba McLeskey Law Offices which was started in 2009.  I practice statewide in the three states of Ohio (admitted 1981) Kentucky and West Virginia. This practice includes all actions filed in the three states and I am licensed for the state courts and federal courts for each. We take many cases which originated in all three states.

My areas of concentration includes creditors rights (consumer/credit collections, replevins, foreclosures, work outs, trial work as necessary), representation of creditors in bankruptcy, estate planning and probate, civil litigation for both the plaintiff and defendant.  For plaintiff they are collection related cases while for defendant it might be insurance defense, lender liability defense and defense of actions under consumer credit protection statutes against banks. I have achieved the rating of distinguished for Martindale-Hubbell.

Our target audiences are creditors or any entity seeking recovery of money or collateral or otherwise. We defend corporations which are sued for various reasons. We are not limited to representation of creditors to the exclusion of other entities and individuals seeking legal services for any area.

Our office is dedicated to achieving the utmost and best outcome for each and every client based on the client’s special needs and objectives.  We focus on providing our clients legal counsel and advice which will result in them making the best legally informed business and personal decisions. Every client is an individual or corporation and, as such, we do not engage in a one size fits all approach. As for attorney’s fees, my office offers several options depending on the case.

We offer free initial consultations and have several different bases for fees.

  1. We have set flat fees for our clients that wish them which puts them in a position to know what to expect;

  2. We do hourly fees from $175.00 to $300.00;

  3. We have flat fees in the areas of estate planning and probate;

  4. In appropriate cases, we offer contingent fees.

Outside of law, my interests include history, literature, NHL hockey, animal welfare, environment, football and movies. I am a member of Tri-Village Sertoma which is a service organization which raises funds and donate them to specific charities. I am a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where I have served as an usher and challis bearer.
